“we put together workshops for the crews about to up-man onto a platform for commencement of drilling operations. As part of the workshops we introduced ‘Bongo Dave’ following lunch break. The message of all being in tune and playing together was extremely well presented through the use of the drums and was a fun and energetic start to the afternoon session. Most importantly the crews are all still talking about that session and have taken the desired message from that. To anyone looking to host such an event with personnel who have no doubt attended many crew mobilisation workshops in the past I would highly recommend the ‘Bongo Dave’ experience, it definitely added a new and dynamic element to the workshops.”

“Thank you so much for taking the time out to join our ‘innovation day’. I must admit to initially thinking that bongo drumming would be a bit of fun and entertainment. However, I was surprised at how much it highlighted the need for team work not just within your own group but also as part of the larger group as a whole. It was truly a great experience and for me a real ‘light bulb’ moment.
You were motivating and engaging. Your message was subtle but effective.
I hope to see you again soon.”
Tracie Watson Managing Director – CRESENT

Jania Boyd Marketing Manager – CRESENT

“Many thanks once again for the drumming workshops – the children were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed your visit.”
Majorie Moir School administrator – Kemnay Primary

“Throughout the year ‘Bongo Dave’ has entertained, educated and entranced young people with his unique style of African drumming and gained the respect of parents, staff, volunteers and the most challenging of teenagers! He has loads of creative ideas and projects are a passion especially involving the multi – ethnic community and young people. Dave is a great guy and the city would be a lesser place without him.”
Paula Gibson Arts centre director

“It was a great success and the children are still talking about it!”
Suzi Samuel Teacher, Ashley Road School

“We weren’t really sure what to expect when we booked this workshop, and not sure how the children (who have varying degrees of hearing loss) would respond. Often music can be very difficult for a hearing impaired child to understand. However we needn’t have worried – it turned out to be a fun, enjoyable introduction to musicality and rhythm! All the children and parents who took part really enjoyed themselves – many of the children already asking when are we doing it again and talking about ‘the next time’. We would certainly consider doing it again, and be able to reassure our other members that their child would be able to fully participate and enjoy it.”
Carrie Heddle Deputy Chair, Grampian Children’s Deaf Society

“Hi David. Just wanted to say thank you for your contribution to our team day today. It was really nice to meet you and the drumming was amazing, totally different to any “teambuilding” that any of us could have expected. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks again, and best regards.”
Jackie Reed HSSE Technical Asst, Andrew Area Development Project

Janice Innes Inspector, Community Relations

“The pupils had a fantastic day at the drumming workshop- the highlight of S1 music for many of them.”
Linda Moggach Music Teacher, Inverurie Academy

“At the beginning of the session it was clear who they were from the group dynamics, by the end of the drumming they had become part of the group with no effort having to be made on anyones part to assimilate them. A great ‘leveller’…. ”
Jane Cotton Information Officer, Youthstart

“It was an excellent evening where all the girls were novices at African Drumming and therefore had to contribute an equal amount of effort to get a good team result. It was a fun evening for all and it set us up well to compete at our Inter District Tournament as it helped cement the team ethic we were seeking, I certainly would recommend it to anyone.”
Sandy Keith Hockey Coach, North District U16 Girls

“The workshop is a great team building exercise as everyone has to work together. It’s a great laugh too!”
Eddy Jacobsen Technical Director, Well Data Technologies
